Viewpoints & Birthdays- A Match Made in Heaven

Let me start off the day by saying HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my husband.

Now the drum roll.............. Well, it shouldn't be all that happy. Sorry, Matt. The Sun reports that TODAY is set to be most miserable day of the year. Apparently January 22 emerged as the worst date for having the BLUES. Dr Cliff Arnall says that Christmas debt, fading memories of holidays, failing New Year resolutions and lack of daylight account for people's misery. But they say not to worry. “We see lots of people with depression and anxiety in winter but they do get better.” (Phew!) Keep your chin up today with these thoughts: You’ll be closer to the HAPPIEST day of the year-- which is set for June 23... just a few months away.

Now the double whammy. I have tried and tried to think of a great present, and I am drawing a blank. I went to friends, family and colleagues for recommendations. I got a few good ideas like soccer game tickets, video games, and the new wii. I have to admit, I'm trying to avoid anything video game related... so those are all out! Then, I got one of my favorite recommendations-- an overnight stay at US Cellular Field. Hmmmm.... Matt is a Sox fan, but it's 20 degrees outside and I think the awe of sleeping overnight in a sleeping bag at a baseball field would be more appealing to my 2 year old. Thanks anyway. If only the Bears were playing the Cowboys-- that would have been PERFECT. (GO BEARS!) But, no such luck.

So, I am drawing a blank. If only viewpoints were up and running.... I could have gone online to find people like my husband and get gift ideas. Someone that is tech savvy, loves gizmos, soccer fanatic, movie lover yet loves being a kid. Wouldn't it be nice to get recommendations for some great presents? Wouldn't it be nice to extend my network of people for recommendations? Viewpoints, where are you when I need you?

I need to stop writing and start thinking about a good gift and a way to get viewpoints up faster! After all, he deserves a great present and my birthday is just a few days away... so I have to set the bar high. Laugh. If anyone has great ideas, send them along. I am desperate with only 6 hours to show time! At least I have a good dinner planned.

So it isn't just me!!

I woke up this morning and felt like the weight of the world was on my shoulders. And not just because it's Monday.

I think the reason it's the "bluest" day of the year is pretty clear (for me at least)... In December I always figure, "Just get through the winter solstice and the days will get longer soon it will be warmer."

Well the days started lengthening a month ago, but it feels colder than ever, and how can I tell the sun is even up when I can't see it through all these clouds?

January is flat out unenjoyable, except for when you get the treat of a birthday! Happy Birthday & upcoming Birthday to you both.

Alas, I have no creative ideas today. Maybe tomorrow. :)

What about a trip to Miami to see the Bears beat the Colts in the Super Bowl? Or, in lieu of that, what about admission/tickets to a local Super Bowl party at a top bar/restaurant.

They'll all be selling out quick, now that it's a sure thing, and not just wishful thinkng from us diehard Bears fans.

I too wondered about seeing the Bears but you have to really know people in high places to do that.

It finally snowed here in MA. By the way, Jolie, I liked the creativity in this last post asking for suggestions. Happy birthday to Matthew.

Now I am the opposite. I am already thinking of Father's Day, our anniversary and Elliott's birthday all of which come between June and August. Ideas - it's too late for this one but a calendar (You can do it online.) with each month a different picture. You can personalize it i.e. Jan. 22 Matt's birthday etc. etc.

I'm also thinking of a collage of pictures of Hanna (our Pomeranian) and maybe a gift certificate for a facial. My hubby likes creative gifts - no ties or key chains for him. I learned that a long time ago! So I really have to think way in advance. Happy birthday no matter how you celebrate. jo

P.S. I really do need ideas for my daughter and new-son-in laws' birthdays in March. Theirs are one week apart and they are a couple who has everything. What does one buy a couple who puts what you buy them in a draw? (:

Wait a sec - this was yesterday. I didn't see it. The feed didn't pick it up until this morning. HMMM -

I do want to share one idea for next year or others since I thought it brilliant. First the person has to have an interest which most people do. My husband is going to be 60 in August. I can't believe it. I think both our birth certificates are wrong.

In any case we both practice Yoga. This is going to be a surprise on Sept. 8. I'll invite about 10 people or so (small) and I hired my Yoga instructor who will come and spend 1 hour or so with us. Then there will be all healthy foods for brunch. jo
