Commit Me Now-- I think I am an Addict

It is not unusual that I wake up daily to a long list of "to do's". I keep my running list in my college ruled notebook. I don't travel without it. I even leave it near my nightstand just in case I get additional inspiration in the wee-hours of the night. Yes, I still make to-do lists. And, yes, I tend to dream about work. (I will even make my husband a to-do list on occassion-- he doesn't really appreciate it!) For some reason, I derive a lot of pleasure from making a long list and then scratching off items as I go. It definitely gives me a sense of accomplishment when I reach the bottom of the list. It makes me feel like I did something today-- and earned my keep.

Normally, I take out my notebook (and list) on the train commute in (because I have to use every spare minute of the day) and begin tackling my to do's. But today was an unusual day. Despite having a long list stare me in the face, I could not stop thinking about what my blog entry would be about today. It wasn't on my list to do until later in the day, but I had to jump in and do it now! Right now! Why? I have so many other things that I need to do that are pressing, but I couldn't get this silly blog out of my head.

I then recalled a conversation I had with Laura Belle (one of our PC writers). I remember her telling me the thrill of writing and getting comments. She mentioned that she loves getting emails and comments and that drives her to write more. While I understood the passion and need for feedback academically, I didn't appreciate it first hand.

Let's just say that I appreciate it now!

I think I am an addict at such a young blogging age! (I have been doing this for just a few days!) I am dilligently checking in hourly to see how many people comment, looking at www.feedburner.com to see how many subscribers I have (if you haven't used the service, definitely check it out!) and every time a person comments, I stray away from my to do list and get excited about my responses.

The bottom line is-- It feels good to drink the KoolAid. It feels good to know how our writers feel and to appreciate first hand what it's like to be one of them. But the pressure is on... I need all of you to feed my addiction. So, send questions, send topics for debate, and send friends. More people means more topics.

And, don't commit me yet-- I am having fun and I still have a long list of to do's I have to get to! Pronto.

I, too, have a long list of ToDos today, among them, getting my portrait taken for Viewpoints, and beforehand, I'm stopping off at the makeup counter in Macy's, because I'm tirred of my current makeup, and I have gift cards worth $100 that are burning holes in my pocket. So, I figured I'd kill a few birds here with the one item on my ToDo list. Get new makeup, and a great look for my portrait.

And, part of my day is checking on my own feedback as well. My current blog at BlogFeast isn't working well always, so I've been looking around for somewhere to post my American Idol commentaries, and I'm thinking I might as well come to Blogger, so that I have one-stop shopping, so to speak. I can check in on Jolie's blog and check in on my own.

Hi Jolie - Here I am after running my errands and going to the gym. The first thing I did when I got home was to turn on the computer. I'll join you in the addicts' club.

I do also dream about things I'm doing on the computer.

What used to be a problem but after so many years seems to be a bit under control is going places and doing things and not really enjoying them because in my head I'd be writing a review. I'd be trying to remember things. I'd be taking notes. This is one reason I don't review movies. I wouldn't be able to enjoy the moment.

I've learned to take as much literature as I can from wherever I am and tell myself if I can't remember then I either won't review it or perhaps the information is online.

I do have a question. You gave us a link to feedburner. I went here to make a blog and it says it isn't ready. I have a blog on tripod but I can easily move it. Do you want us to start a blog at feedburner?

More questions to come! jo

LauraBelle, not too long ago I did the same thing at Macy's. I love the Clarins makeup (everything from eyeshadow to gloss) I got. My daughter was getting married thus the impetus to do so.

I had my picture taken yesterday. I wish the woman there had told me I had a piece of hair sticking out! jo

Laura and Jo- thanks for going to have your photos taken!! I cant wait to get them! It typically takes 5 days for me to receive them. On the feedburner front, they allow you to "burn" your feed. This means that you start a blog on eblogger or typepad and then they help you syndicate it out, track stats, etc but you need to already have a blog.

Question: After spending 2 hours starting a blog with my info on my tripod blog thinking I could burn it or whatever you are talking about I have given up.

So my question is this:

Will we be given a blog friendly page like you have? I can then take my tripod page which you can get to easily via the website you have linked to me but still it would be nice to have it here. jo

I feel much better with my new face on. And Jo, just as you wish the photog would have informed you about you hair sticking up, I wish she would have informed me that when I was smiling nice and big for her, my one eye was squinting shut. Regardless, that's me. But the makeup on that one eye looked great! ;-)

RE: blogs ... My thing was thinking I couldn't get Google Adsense on here, as the blogs I see, such as Jolie's don't have it. But someone told me Deborah Ng's blog (if none of you have seen her site ... do. She publishes great freelance want ads every day) is blogger, and she has Adsense. I just already have money earned on it, and would hate to abandon it. I'm thinking right now, I could get on here, run my ads, put my American Idol commentaries on it, and run personal stuff as well.

And also Jo, I do review movies, and I take notes while I'm there. It doesn't seem to affect my enjoyment. I take notes for the TV shows I review, too. Thank God for the instant reply on my TIVO, though.

I can't believe someone else would take notes. Oh I've thought of it. I guess if I loved to review movies I would do that just as I sneak into the bathroom to make notes on the restaurant I'm in.

Ok so I did a whole new blog. I don't get any money for any of my websites so I don't care. They're just fun for me. It is connected to the website Jolie put next to my name but by itself it is http://jobythebay.tripod.com/myblog/

I'm not sure how blogging will connect to viewpoints. Jolie?? How will it. jo

Okay. I created my blog here at eblogger. I've got my adsense in, although the ads aren't customized yet, since google hasn't found the site yet.

I've got my first blog of thoughts up, and might add my AI commentary from last week, just to have it all in one place later.

P.S. I'll be taking notes tomorrow when I got see Freedom Writers.

It's absolutely an addiction! I write for feedback. I think that's what keeps me from getting very far on my "Great American Novel [TM]" without the feedback, I just don't feel compelled to proceed. :)

I have dreamt about people I only know online. And sadly, as much as I love To Do lists, I have a really hard time keeping mine updated as I should.
